Hyperbaric oxygen therapy works by a straightforward physical principle: breathing pure oxygen at pressures above atmospheric levels dramatically increases the amount of dissolved oxygen in your plasma. At sea level, haemoglobin carries nearly all the oxygen in your blood, and plasma oxygen is minimal. At 1.5 to 2.0 ATA (the pressures used in our protocols), plasma oxygen levels rise 10 to 15 times above normal — and this dissolved oxygen reaches tissues that compromised circulation cannot.
A single HBOT session produces measurable physiological effects: increased tissue oxygenation, upregulation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) upon return to normal pressure (which stimulates angiogenesis — new blood vessel formation), reduced systemic inflammation via suppression of NF-kB, and enhanced stem cell mobilisation from bone marrow. A 2006 study by Thom et al. published in the American Journal of Physiology showed that a single HBOT session doubled circulating stem cell numbers, and a protocol of 20 sessions increased them eightfold.
However, the clinical benefits of HBOT are cumulative and protocol-dependent. A single session is interesting physiology; a structured protocol is therapy. Our 10-session protocol is designed as an accessible entry point for patients seeking the recovery, anti-inflammatory, and cognitive benefits of HBOT without the larger time and financial commitment of extended protocols.
Each session lasts 60 minutes at 1.5 to 2.0 ATA, with sessions scheduled 3 to 5 times per week for consistency. Indications for the 10-session protocol include post-surgical wound healing acceleration, chronic inflammation management, sports injury recovery, mild traumatic brain injury (concussion) rehabilitation, and general cognitive performance enhancement. Research from Tel Aviv University has demonstrated improved cerebral blood flow and cognitive function scores after structured HBOT protocols in both young and older adults.
You will be monitored by trained staff throughout every session, and our physician will review your response to the protocol at sessions 5 and 10 to determine whether extending to 20 or 40 sessions would provide additional benefit for your specific condition. Dr. Asritha, MD Anaesthesia, leads the execution of all IV therapy and HBOT protocols, ensuring clinical-grade safety, dosing accuracy, and emergency preparedness for every session.

What is the difference between 10 and 40 session HBOT protocols?
Ten sessions provide meaningful anti-inflammatory, recovery, and cognitive benefits and serve as an excellent starting protocol. Forty sessions follow the Tel Aviv University research protocol that demonstrated measurable telomere lengthening and senescent cell clearance — effects that require sustained, repeated exposure. Your physician will recommend the appropriate protocol based on your goals and clinical assessment.
Is HBOT safe? What does it feel like?
HBOT has an excellent safety profile when administered at clinical pressures (1.5-2.0 ATA). You may feel pressure in your ears during pressurisation, similar to an airplane descent — we teach equalisation techniques beforehand. Most patients read, watch content on their phone, or simply relax during the 60-minute session.
Can I combine HBOT with other treatments?
Absolutely. HBOT pairs well with red light therapy (different recovery mechanisms), IV drips (HBOT before IV maximises tissue delivery), and exercise programs (enhanced recovery). We often build HBOT into our comprehensive longevity packages for synergistic benefit.
