InBody Body Composition Analysis
Medical-grade InBody analysis measuring body fat percentage, visceral fat, segmental lean mass, and water balance in 60 seconds.

Your bathroom scale tells you one number — total weight. That number is practically useless for understanding your health, because it cannot distinguish between the muscle that protects your metabolic health and the visceral fat that destroys it. Two people at identical weight can have radically different disease risk profiles based on their body composition.
InBody bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) sends multiple frequencies of electrical current through your body to measure resistance across different tissue types. Muscle, which is approximately 73% water, conducts electricity efficiently. Fat tissue, which contains very little water, resists it. By measuring impedance at multiple frequencies across five body segments (right arm, left arm, trunk, right leg, left leg), the InBody device constructs a detailed map of your body composition.
The clinical metrics that matter: body fat percentage (a far better predictor of metabolic health than BMI), visceral fat area (the metabolically active fat surrounding your organs that drives inflammation and insulin resistance), segmental lean mass (identifying muscle imbalances between left and right sides that predict injury risk), skeletal muscle mass (the strongest modifiable predictor of healthy aging), and extracellular water ratio (ECW/TBW — an emerging marker of systemic inflammation when elevated above 0.390).
Research published in the Journal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle has demonstrated that low skeletal muscle mass — sarcopenia — is independently associated with increased all-cause mortality, cardiovascular events, and loss of functional independence with aging. Your muscle mass is not vanity; it is your metabolic organ and your longevity reserve.
InBody testing takes 60 seconds, requires no preparation beyond removing shoes and socks, and provides an immediately printable result sheet that your physician will review with you. We use this as a baseline metric tracked over time alongside your biomarker data. Book a consultation with our longevity physician to incorporate body composition analysis into your health optimization plan.

InBody medical-grade devices correlate within 2-3% of DEXA for body fat measurement in clinical validation studies. InBody excels at tracking changes over time due to its excellent test-retest reliability. For an absolute gold-standard measurement, we also offer DEXA scanning. Many patients use InBody for frequent tracking and DEXA for periodic validation.
What should I do before an InBody scan for accurate results?
For best accuracy: test at the same time of day, avoid eating or drinking for 2-3 hours before, avoid exercise for 6-12 hours, and use the bathroom beforehand. Consistency of conditions matters more than perfection — the value is in tracking trends over time.
What is a healthy body fat percentage?
Optimal ranges differ by sex and age. For men, 10-20% body fat is generally considered healthy, with longevity research suggesting 12-18% as ideal for metabolic health. For women, 18-28% is healthy, with 20-25% considered optimal. Your physician will contextualize your results against your age, activity level, and health goals.
